Eujean Dody (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Eujean Butler Gothard Dody left this world to be with her heavenly family on Friday evening, September 28, 2012. Eujean, 91, passed away at the Citizens Memorial Health Care Facility in Bolivar after a long battle with cancer. A daughter of Gene and Lula Ann (Thomason) Butler, she was born at their home in Cedar County on April 10, 1921.
Eujean was a graduate of Fair Play High School’s class of 1939. She was saved and became a member of the Fair Play Baptist Church at a young age.
Eujean married Paul Eugene Gothard on December 12, 1939, in Lindsay, California, returning to Fair Play to farm. They had two children, Bobbie Dale and Linda Jean. Eujean and the children remained on the farm after Paul’s death on September 10, 1955. She was one of the first employees at the Pants Maker Garment Factory in Bolivar working first as a clipper later moving to a steam press.
Later in life, Eujean met Everett Dody. They were married on August 25, 1980. They lived in El Dorado Springs for several years before moving to Bolivar. Everett passed away on July 9, 2004.
She was a member of the Bolivar Church of Christ; Lake Stockton Area Council of the Blind, an affiliate of The Missouri Council of the Blind; Order of the Eastern Star receiving her 50-year pin; and Royal Neighbors of America Fern Camp 10501 Bear Creek until it disbanded.
Eujean was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; two sisters, Mary Belle Johnson and Mildred Rickman; and one brother, William Kent Butler.
She is survived by a sister Marie Davis of Fair Play; a son Bobbie Gothard and wife Linda and a daughter Linda Dawes and husband Wayne of Bolivar; seven grandchildren – Tracy Welch and husband Kelly, Barbara Lee, Paul Gothard and wife Diana of Bolivar; Robert Dawes and wife Carie of Stockton; Michael Dawes & friend Jamie of Fair Play; Stephanie Terry and husband Shawn of Roscoe; Melinda Phillips and husband Joshua of Mesa, Arizona. Also surviving are sixteen great-grandchildren – Charlene Soto and husband Carmen, Derek Welch, Sloan Welch, Devin Welch, Kellynn Welch, Dustin Welch, Lakyn Lee, Alexa Aldridge, Bud Chappell, Shayd Gothard, Rebecca Dawes, Megan Dawes, Paige Dawes, Joe Dawes, Shane Terry, and Phoenix Terry; two great-great-grandchildren – Carter Cash Soto and Charlize Soto; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
