Eunice Silvey's Obituary
Eunice M. Silvey, 85, passed away on May 26, 2009, at Mercy Villa Springfield, Missouri, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Eunice was born on February 13, 1924, in Webster County, Missouri. She was the youngest daughter of J.L. (Loyd) and Florine (Johns) Silvey. She spent most of her life in the Seymour area. She was saved at the age of sixteen and was baptized and became a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church. Eunice graduated from Seymour High School in 1942. After graduation she worked for the F.B.I. in Washington D.C. She held various jobs including O’Reilly Hospital in Springfield, Seymour High School, Citizen’s Bank in Marshfield, and Union National Bank in Springfield. She also was a volunteer at the Seymour Senior Center and held the position of Treasurer of Webster County Council on Aging for 16 years. She also cared for her mom and dad in their later years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Blanche Blevins, and three brothers-in-law. Eunice is survived by two sisters, Helen Mitchiner, of Fullerton, California, and Velma Boyce, of Hastings, Nebraska; three nieces, Frances Jones, of Rogersville, Missouri, Carol Waineo, of Placentia, California, Elda White, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; five nephews, David Blevins, of Springfield, Missouri, Lowell Blevins, of Spring Lake, Michigan, Lloyd Boyce, of Farfield, Nebraska, Tom Mitchiner, of Greenville, North Carolina, and John Mitchiner, of Aurora, Colorado; great and great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins. Eunice was very gifted in music as well as crocheting, painting needlework, and doing jigsaw puzzles. Eunice was a loving sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday May 29, 2009 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home in Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call to the funeral home at their convenience under the direction of the Holman - Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri.
