Eva J. Varble (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Eva Jane Varble, daughter of John Henry and Emma Lou Lambeth Rhodes, was born November 20, 1925, in Jennings, Oklahoma. She departed this life Sunday, July 12, 2015, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, seven months, and twenty-two days.
On July 15, 1941, in St. Charles, Missouri, she was united in marriage to John William Varble, and to this union six daughters and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, on December 30, 2013; two daughters, Beverly Anne Sides, and Brenda Schuyler; and five sisters, Mary Iwana, Lucille, Vickie, Eardeen, and Patricia “Penny”.
Eva is survived by four daughters, Tina Austin, and her husband, Chris, of Mount Vernon, Missouri, Cindy Newell, and her husband, Charles, Janie Cook, and her husband, John, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Barbara Nicolais, and her husband, Robert, of Penfield, New York; a son, John Varble, and his wife, Nancy, of Lebanon, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Harold Varble, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Jennings, Oklahoma. After she and John were married, they made their home near Lebanon, Missouri, and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Eva was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family.
Eva loved the Lord. She was saved at a revival in Lebanon, and was baptized soon afterward. She read and studied her Bible daily, until her eyesight failed. She was a charter member of Community Baptist Church in Lebanon and she enjoyed attending services.
Eva was very active in the Rebekah Lodge # 680 in Lebanon for a number of years. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, canning, quilting, and caring for her family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing meals on her wood cook stove. She was known for her baking and especially for her delicious pies. Sunday dinners were a wonderful event enjoyed by family and many friends. She made everyone feel welcome and no one left hungry. Her family was very dear to her and she always liked spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eva was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the very special memories she created for them during her eighty-nine years.
