Eva Woods' Obituary
Eva Woods, one of ten children born to Salvador and Hortencia Arguilez Castro, was born January 30, 1932, in Tecate, Mexico, and departed this life on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, in her daughter?s home near Rogersville, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, three months and eleven days. She was united in marriage to Thomas K. Woods in 1952 and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by seven siblings, her husband and parents. Eva is survived by her daughter, Eva P. Hindman and her husband, Rick, of Rogersville, Missouri; her son, Thomas J. Woods and his wife, Kim, of Ava, Missouri; grandchildren, Sabrina Woods and her children, Dylan and Dodge Stout, Keri Hindman and her husband, C.J., and daughter, Holiday L. Johnson, Tiffany L. Mork, Joshua Hindman and Wade Grigg; one sister, Evangelina Avila; one brother, Rodolpho Castro; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Eva had two very important things happen to her in 1952. One was her marriage but that was also the same year she earned her American Citizenship. She taught herself English by reading comic books. In 1973, they moved to Ava, Missouri, when her husband desired to return to Missouri. She worked hard to make ends meet and finally found her calling as a cook at Rocky Ridge Manor where she worked for over thirty-five years under various administrators, June Grigg being one of them, winning my mothers respect, which was not easy to do. She loved making residents happy at Rocky Ridge and would stay at the home overnight when it was icy or snowy so that the residents would be assured of a hot meal. Eva was a wonderful cook, especially Mexican food. We want to mention special friends that Mom thought so much of, B.J. and Eunice Evans, Ed and Phyllis Robertson, Jay and Linda Fleetwood, Linda Meyers Woods and her church friends. She was a very caring person to all of her friends and family and will be missed dearly. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will always cherish the many wonderful memories.
