Evans Ipock (Seymour)'s Obituary
Evans Wayne Ipock, son of Carl Earnest and Bessie Esther (Glass) Ipock, was born June 15, 1925, in Mansfield, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, March 7, 2011, in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, eight months and twenty days.
On March 8, 1947, Evans was united in marriage to Joan Sherertz and to this union a son and two daughters were born. On March 8, 2011, they would have completed sixty-four wonderful years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Earnest Ipock and James Donald Ipock; and three brothers-in-law, John Yates, Byron Rooks, and Nolan Haines.
Evans is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his three children, Belinda Strobl and her husband, Reed, of Laguna Niguel, California, Mark Ipock and his wife, Rhonda, and Angelia Henderson, all of Springfield, Missouri; six grandchildren, Clifton Hamilton, Kerry Bliss, Lori Shaw, Chelsey Henderson, Cassie Henderson, and Kylee Henderson; four great-grandchildren, Makayla, Samantha, Brady, and Wyatt; his sisters, Mary Haines, Ginger Rooks, Millie Nilsson and her husband, Bruce, all of the State of Texas; Joanna Yates, Carlotta Earnhart and her husband, Harold, and Vinita Velligan, all of Springfield, Missouri; two beloved sisters-in-law, Ruby Briggs of the State of California and Lois Ipock of Nixa, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
He was born in Mansfield, Missouri, and lived there until he joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after serving faithfully during World War II. Following his military service and marriage to Joan, they made their home in Seymour and Springfield before moving to their farm in the Buffalo area. He loved farming and the farm life and had served as Vice President of the American Agriculture Movement and led the fight of many farmers in saving their family farms. He worked his farm for many years, caring for all animals, large and small, and had helped to develop the hydro phonics method of growing crops indoors.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and had attended the Freewill Baptist Church in Buffalo.
Evans was a loyal and passionate member of the Democratic Party and always loved a good debate, especially when he could get a Republican involved in it. He loved visiting with his friends, and found great joy in his huge extended family of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, who gave him many years of laughter, love, and joy.
Evans was a kind and gentle man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and was a caring friend and neighbor. We celebrate his life and many accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories he created for all those who knew and loved him.
