Evelyn Cheek (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Former Bolivar resident Evelyn Cheek, of Palm Harbor, Florida, age 90, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in Palm Harbor.
Evelyn was born in Fair Play, Missouri on May 9, 1924 to James and Florence (Matuszak) Curtis. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan. Evelyn was united in marriage, on June 27, 1947 to John “Newt” Cheek. They shared 52 years together, before Newt’s passing.
She was a very devoted mother and wife, and loved spending time with her friends and family, especially going shopping, playing cards, and having lunches. Evelyn also went to cosmetology school, and was a long time hair stylist.
Preceding Evelyn in death is her husband, Newt; her parents, James and Florence Curtis; her maternal grandparents, John and Helen Potts; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Jackson.
Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Delia, of Palm Harbor, Florida; a brother-in-law, Charles Cheek, of Rocheport, Missouri; an aunt, Mary John Hill, of Dallas, Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
