On January 8, 1938, she was united in marriage to Marcus Eugene Holman, and to this union one son was born. She and Marcus shared fifty-eight years before Marcus’ passing on February 9, 1996.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Evelyn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Rose Holman, of Camdenton, Missouri; two granddaughters, Sandra Stilgenbauer, and her husband, Jackson, of Springfield, Missouri, and Shera Collins, and her husband, Nicholas, of Camdenton, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Mountain View and Birch Tree areas of Missouri, and received her education there. After she and Marcus were married, they made their home in Ava, Missouri before moving to Lebanon, around 1970. Evelyn was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family throughout the years. Following Marcus’ passing, Evelyn moved to Springfield and made her home.
Evelyn had attended First United Methodist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, painting pottery, and creating dolls. She also was a gifted and talented seamstress and used to make lots of clothes for her granddaughters. She had worked in 4-H Clubs and with the Extension Clubs as her husband was the District director for Missouri Extension for many years. She loved her family dearly, and especially enjoyed spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
