Evelyn E Holmes (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Evelyn E. Holmes, daughter of Fred and Bertha Farrington Dean, was born September 1, 1929 in Kernersville, North Carolina. She departed this life Monday, August 3, 2015 in Lebanon Rehab South, Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, eleven months, and two days.
On January 25, 1948, Evelyn was united in marriage to Robert L. Holmes and to this union five sons and three daughters were born.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert, on February 20, 2007; a son, Robert Holmes, Jr.; two daughters, Vivian Andrews and Deborah Hanning; a grandson, Michael Hanning; sisters, Dorothy Venable and Jenny Motsinger; and two brothers, Bobby Dean and Fred Dean, Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Catherine Uder, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sons, Terry Holmes, of Atlanta, Georgia, Kenneth Holmes and wife, Patricia, of Lebanon, Missouri, Tam H. Holmes, of Independence, Missouri; and Christopher Holmes and wife, Rosemary, of Jamesville, Virginia; twenty-two grandchildren; a number of great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Evelyn spent her younger years living in North Carolina with her family. She traveled with her husband while he was enlisted in the United States Air Force, they spent time living in England and various places stateside. Evelyn and Robert moved to Lebanon to make their home in the early 1990’s.
She was a devoted homemaker to her family and cherished the time spent with her family. In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, and cooking for her family. She loved to have fun and lived life to its fullest every day. Evelyn had attended Mission Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon .
Evelyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
