Evelyn Jaynes' Obituary
Tilda Evelyn Jaynes, daughter of Roy and Nancy Opal Chastain Evans, was born June 15, 1929, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, January 19, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, seven months, and four days. On September 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Fred Jaynes, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Eulas Evans. Evelyn is survived by her husband of sixty years, Fred, of the home; a daughter, Anita G. Bennett, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Stephen F. Jaynes, and his wife, Linda, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jeff L. Jaynes, of Marshfield, Missouri; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Sue Roberson, of Dennison, Texas, and Sharon Cromer, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri. After she and Fred were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Evelyn also worked as a seamstress for fifty years. She first was employed at the Rice Stix Factory which became Reliance, and then later changed to the H. D. Lee Company, before she retired in 1994. Evelyn made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life at the Blackfoot Church. In her spare time she enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activity was fishing. She also liked to sew and enjoyed taking care of her home. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. Her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years. Services wil be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
