Farrell Joe Thompson's Obituary
Farrell Dean “Joe” Thompson, Sr., 73, departed this life Monday, January 12, 2009, in his daughter’s home, Brumley, Missouri. He was born January 1, 1936, in Salem, Missouri, the son of Delbert and Viola Anderson Thompson. He grew up in Salem, Missouri, and in Corning, Iowa. On November 28, 1981, in Camdenton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Margretta Marie “Gretta” Gully. He met Gretta at Denny’s in Fenton, Missouri, and after their marriage they moved to the Lake area. He worked more that twenty-five years as a printer at Van Hoffman Printing Company, where he retired in 1980. He then worked for the Camdenton School District for sixteen years as a custodian. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He is survived by his sons, Farrell Thompson, Jr. and his wife, Cathy, of Stover, Missouri, Steve Thompson and his wife, Bridget, of Eldon, Missouri, and Chris Thompson and his wife, Robin, of Camdenton, Missouri; two daughters, Verma Dugan and her husband, Dennis, of Brumley, Missouri, and Belinda Gilbert and her fiancée, Mark, of Camdenton, Missouri; step-sons, Tony Adams and his wife, Kathy, of Camdenton, Missouri, David Adams of Solidad, California, and Lewis Adams and his wife, Pia, of Germany; a step-daughter, Margretta Schwartz of Camdenton, Missouri; a sister, Rosemary Tucker of Potosi, Missouri; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gretta; his parents; a sister, Bonnie White; two brothers, Leroy Thompson and Ed Thompson; and a son, Daniel Thompson. Farrell was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday January 14, 2009 at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Hermann City Cemetery in Hermann, Missouri. Visitation is Tuesday evening 5-7:00pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Camdenton, Missouri. Return to top
