Faye Dennis' Obituary
Faye Dennis, daughter of Bart and Viola Ingles, was born August 24, 1908, in Rushville, Illinois. She departed this life Wednesday, May 9, 2007, in Rocky Ridge Manor, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-eight days, eight months, and fifteen days. In March of 1935 she was united in marriage to Alton Burke “Bill” Dennis and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 1974; her parents; a great-grandson Anthony Summers; a brother, Don Ingles; and two sisters, Ethel Wardlow, and Reva Lilly. Faye is survived by two daughters, Gail Oetting, and her husband, Christy, of Carthage, Missouri; and Judy Craig, and her husband, Veril, of Niangua, Missouri; two sons, Larry Dennis, and his wife, Joyce, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Jack Dennis, and his wife, Barbara, of Aurora, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, June Howery, of Carthage, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born in Illinois and moved with her family to a farm near Jasper, Missouri, in 1911. She graduated from Jasper High School in the Class of 1927. After receiving her teaching certificate from Southwest Missouri State Teachers College, she moved to Mansfield, where she accepted a teaching position in 1930. She retired from teaching in July of 1973 and was a member of the Wright County Retired Teachers for many years. Faye had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a lifelong member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church, where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. She served many years as a Sunday school and Bible school teacher, and was also a member of United Methodist Women. Faye enjoyed beautiful flowers and art, and was famous for her chicken and noodles that she would make for family gatherings. Faye was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007, in the Mansfield United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri. Memorials to the Mansfield United Methodist Church may be made through the funeral home.
