Faye Frances Helms (Seymour)'s Obituary
Faye Frances Helms, daughter of David Andrew and Elivia Virtie (Wampler) Coots, was born December 3, 1914, in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, January 2, 2011, in her home in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of ninety-six years and thirty days.
On July 20, 1936, Faye was united in marriage to Otis Edwin Helms and to this union one son and three daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otis, on November 3, 1968; her son, Dirl Dean Helms; two grandsons, Dewayne Hume and Michael Hume; a brother, Romaine Coots; and a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and R.L. Smith.
Faye is survived by her three daughters, Deloris Owens and her husband, Melvin, Sue Kanel and her husband, George, and Letha Hume and her husband, Damon, all of Seymour, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Kelli Myers, Gale Freeman, Curtis Owens, Ladeana Campbell, Melinda Reinschmiedt, Stacey Goodwin, Rex Kanel, and Harold Hume; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a niece, Doreen Milligan, of Vista, California; one nephew, Marti Smith, of Anchorage, Alaska; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was born north of Seymour in Wright County, Missouri, and had lived in the area her entire life. She described herself as being a farm wife, spending her time milking cows and washing dishes, and taking care of her home and family. She was an excellent cook and famous for her delicious homemade pickles. She was a longtime member of the Seymour Homemakers Club and enjoyed the fellowship she shared with her friends and neighbors.
Faye had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior early in her life and was a member of the Seymour First Christian Church and after making her home with her daughter Deloris, she attended the Diggins Apostolic Church with Deloris and Melvin.
In her spare time she loved to go fishing, growing vegetables and beautiful flowers in her garden, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Faye was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and aunt was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will forever cherish the precious memories she created for her family and many friends.
