Felicita Lane, daughter of Salvador Castro and Juanita Castro Rodriquez, was born June 1, 1937, in Puerto Rico. She departed this life Friday, April 13, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, ten months, and twelve days.
On July 28, 1968, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” J. Lane and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jose; and a sister, Carmen.
Felicita is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Bill, of the home; a son, George Lane, and his wife, Kathy, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Debbie Ras, and her husband, Frank, of Madison, Alabama; four grandchildren, Dalton, Elijah, Bianca, and Kyle; two brothers, Salvador and Lando; four sisters, Louisa, Maria, Josephina, and Lucy; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised on the family farm in Puerto Rico, and graduated from the University of Puerto Rico at San Juan. She taught home economics and science in Puerto Rico for several years and then moved to the United States and made her home in Florida in 1970. She and Bill continued to live in Florida for ten years before moving to Plato, Missouri. Felicita worked as a substitute teacher for the Plato Schools for some time and was also a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She was an excellent seamstress and worked at Fort Leonard Wood for several years, and did private sewing for people. She and Bill made their home in Lebanon for the last several months.
Felicita had made her profession of faith in Christ and was an active member of the Plato Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.
In her spare time she enjoyed growing beautiful flowers and sewing. She liked to travel and she and Bill had done so extensively. She always made her family the center of her life and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and taking walks with them.
Felicita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty years.
Memorial donations to the Kindness Connection for the Plato Kindergarten Class may be made through the funeral home.
