Fern Lavonne Burdick (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Fern LaVonne Burdick was born July 22, 1934 in Lewellen, Nebraska to Miles Howard and Mabel Lott Beavins. She passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025 in her home. She was ninety years, eight months and twenty-five days of age.
Fern was born and raised in Lewellen and graduated from high school there. She went on to college before meeting the love of her life, Albert Wayne Burdick. They were married July 25, 1954 and made many wonderful memories throughout the nearly forty-eight years they were married.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mabel Beavins; her loving husband, Albert Burdick on June 15, 2002; two infant sons; and twin sisters, Doris and Dorothy.
Fern is survived by three daughters, Terri Burdick and Traci Bailey of Richland, Missouri, and Trina Engholm and her husband Robert of Monterey, California; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
After Fern and Albert were married, they lived in California, Arizona and Colorado. Fern loved being a homemaker and loved being a mom. Over the years she also worked as an apartment manager.
A special memory that Fern enjoyed sharing was the time she went to Russia, after the fall of the Berlin Wall. She went with an Evangelic church from America to minister to the Jews in St. Petersburg. It was an amazing trip that she never forgot.
She was a strong, Christian woman and had great faith in her Lord and Savior. In Colorado she was a member of the Resurrection Fellowship and attended other churches in Richland as long as her health allowed.
Fern was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, whose kindness and encouraging, supportive nature was rooted firmly in her Christian faith. Her trust in Christ and love for Jesus grew throughout her life and was the distinguishing characteristic recognized by all who knew her.
Her loss is deeply felt by her family and she will be so missed. Yet we know that she lives on in them and in their love for each other.
