Fern Kuhn's Obituary
Fern Catherine Kuhn, daughter of Flemin Levi and Minnie Evelyn Reed Quinn, was born August 14, 1938 in Bomont, West Virginia. She departed this life Saturday, October 20, 2007 in her home at the age of sixty-nine years, two months, and six days. On July 5, 1955, Fern was united in marriage to Glen Kuhn and to this union eleven children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Larry Glen Kuhn; a daughter, Evelyn Gittings; three brothers, Elliott, Earl, and Paul; as well two sisters, Patricia Quinn and Pauline Tanner. She is survived by nine children; Randy Kuhn, of Hartville, Karen Bunch and her husband, Harry, of Seymour, Rickey Kuhn and his wife, Shelly, of Hartville, Jean Corder and her husband, Gary, Donna Kingery and her husband, Larry, and David Kuhn, all of Mansfield, Kathline Kuhn, Cathrine Pratt and her husband, Mike, and Johnnie Kuhn, all of Hartville; twenty-seven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Quinn and his wife, Wanda, of Mansfield, and James Quinn and his wife, Linda, of Clendenin, West Virginia; two sisters, Athlene Dixon and her husband, Joe, of Aquasco, Maryland, and Judy Dye of Ava; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Fern was born in West Virginia and remained there until the age of sixteen when she met and married Glen. They made their home in Urich, Missouri, near Kansas City until 1967 when they moved to the Pea Ridge area of Wright County, where they lovingly raised their family. Fern attended the Shaddy Chapel Church of Christ, where she was baptized into the Christian faith. She was a devoted homemaker, and had also worked as a teacher’s assistant and a school cook while living in the Kansas City area. Fern’s family was very important to her and she especially loved to care for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed caring for her farm animals. In her spare time, Fern liked to work in her garden, to do needlepoint work and to sew. She also loved to listen to her gospel music records. Fern was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Hartville. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
