Fern Long's Obituary
Fern Mae Long, daughter of Jimmie and Edith Tombs Shivers, was born January 23, 1923 near Montreal, Missouri. She departed this life, Friday, December 29, 2006 in Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty-three years, eleven months and six days. On December 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Roy Cleo Long and together they shared the last fifty-seven years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gerald L. Long; a brother, Warren Shivers and three sisters, Claudine Bridgeforth, Beulah Jones and Eunice Barber. Survivors include her husband, Roy Cleo, of the home; two grandsons, Stacey Roy Long of Montreal, Missouri, and Mark Wayne Long and his wife, Karin, of Camdenton, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Alex and Faith; a brother, Calvin Shivers and his wife, Burley, of Montreal, Missouri; a sister, Betty Long and her husband, Harold L., of Montreal, Missouri; and a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She lived most of her life in the Montreal area of Camden County. She and her husband were co-owners of Long Brothers General Merchandise in Montreal for a time. She was a devoted housewife and helpmate to her husband. She made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Freedom Church of Christ in Montreal. She was a member of the Rural Carriers Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling with her husband. Together, they traveled over most of the United States. She was a great cook and enjoyed time spent with her family. She also enjoyed sewing and had made several beautiful quilts. Fern was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. We celebrate her life and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 31, 2006 in Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Montreal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and left at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2006, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burail will be in the Montreal Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
