Fern Tadlock's Obituary
Fern Ocene Tadlock was born September 4, 1915, near Long Lane, Missouri, and departed this life Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, eleven months, and five days. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Beulah; a granddaughter, Anita; three grandsons, Kevin, Rocky, and Wayne; a great-grandson, Bradly; two sons-in-law, Jerry and Fred; and a sister, Imogene Henson. Fern is survived by five daughters, Joan McGuire, and her husband, Dencil, of Lebanon, Missouri, Virginia Sousley, of Springfield, Missouri, Beverly Leatherman, and her husband, Jim, and Shirley Chapman, and her husband, Ivan, all of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Barbara Griffin, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons, Charley Tadlock, and his wife, Johnnie Mae, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, James Tadlock, and his wife, Carol, of Reno, Nevada, and Larry Tadlock, and his wife, Debbie, of Lebanon, Missouri; twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-two great-grandchildren; twenty-four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Faye Burtin, of Long Lane, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Long Lane Community. She then made her home in the Lebanon area, where she was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother to her family. She also worked as a cook at various restaurants and then at Breech Medical Center for several years. Fern had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and crocheting pretty things. She also collected ceramic cats and liked growing beautiful flowers and playing bingo. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making special meals for her family. She loved her family dearly and was especially fond of her sons-in-law. Fern was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Four Mile Cemetery, near Long Lane, Missouri. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
