Florence Gartner's Obituary
Florence Gartner, daughter of Peter and Helena Mariani Storti, was born March 9, 1916, in Housatonic, Massachusetts. She departed this life Sunday, April 8, 2007, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, and twenty-nine days. On October 29, 1940, she was united in marriage to Morton Gartner, and to this union one daughter was born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morton, on October 1, 2003; two brothers; and two sisters. Florence is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Frank Brown, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Albini Oppermann, of Housatonic, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Massachusetts, where she graduated from high school. She then made her home in New York City, where she met and married Morton. Then continued to make their home in New York, and lovingly raised their daughter. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Florence also worked for the New Era Letter and Lithograph Corporation for a number of years. Recently, she had relocated to Lebanon, Missouri to be closer to her daughter. Florence loved dancing and volunteered at a ballroom dancing studio for some time. She and Morton enjoyed dancing together and had won several championships in dancing. Florence and Morton had a special bond centered with deep love and devotion for one another. Florence was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
