Florence McCoun's Obituary
Florence Mae McCoun, daughter of John Titus and Susan Alice Guinn Nickle, was
born December 3, 1926, at Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, November
22, 2009 in Cox Medical Center, South, Springfield, Missouri.
On October 22, 1946 she was united in marriage to Carl Fred McCoun, who preceded
her in death on July 13, 1968.
Florence was also preceded in death by her parents, five sisters: Jessie Broyles, Millie
White, Blanche Mathis, Mable Baker and Marie Helsley, six brothers; Elmer, Ezra,
Dorris, Dowe, Sr., John and Bill Nickle.
Florence is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other
relatives and many friends.
She was born at Hartville, at the age of three years the family moved to Kenneth,
Kansas and returned to Hartville seven years later, where Florence graduated from
Hartville High School in the Class of 1943. A year later she left Hartville and went to
work for the Santa Fe Railroad as a teletype operator, working around the U.S. She
was in St. Joseph, Missouri when she met Carl. They married and lived in Gower and
Carrollton, Kansas, Florence worked in Banking and retired from Bank IV in 1991 in
Kansas City. She moved back to Hartville in 1993 where she attended United Methodist
Church.
Florence loved raising flowers, reading, cooking, caring for her family and her dogs.
She enjoyed watching TV, especially baseball games and visiting with her friends and
neighbors at Gasconade Neighbors.
Florence was a loving aunt and a caring neighbor and dear friend. We celebrate her
life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for
her family and friends.
