Florene Johnson's Obituary
Florene Vivian Johnson, daughter of Lloyd W. and Lavena Beatrice Sharp Bennett, was born November 9, 1916, near Bennett Spring, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, June 7, 2009, in Northridge Place Assisted Living, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, six months, and twenty-eight days. On April 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to Clyde Haven Johnson, and they shared fifty-seven years before his passing on February 26, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Verdon and Estel Bennett; and two sisters, Rosalee McCrory, and Beth Cook. Florene is survived by a sister, Emma Jean Adkins, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was a direct descendent of the original Brice and Bennett families that founded the Brice community and Bennett Spring. She was raised in the Bennett Spring area and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1934. After she and Clyde were married, they made their home in Oklahoma for a few years before moving to Arkansas in 1962. They made their home in Hot Springs, Arkansas for a number of years and owned and operated a motel and various other businesses and properties. Florene and Clyde were both very good business managers. Soon after Clyde’s passing, Florene retired and moved back to the Lebanon area. Florene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life at First Baptist Church in Lebanon. Throughout the years she continued to follow the Baptist faith. She was an excellent seamstress and liked to do sewing for herself and her sisters. She also enjoyed gardening and loved cats. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her sister and nieces and nephews. Florene was a loving sister and aunt, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday June 11, 2009 at the Mt. Rose mausoleum chapel. Entombment will be in the Mt. Rose Mausoleum under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
