Florene Snow's Obituary
lorene Z. Snow, daughter of Charles Lee and Mary Ellen Adams Jones, was born August 14, 1921, near Competition, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, February 12, 2008, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, five months, and twenty-eight days. On December 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to Vernon Soloman Snow, and together they shared fifty-eight years before Vernon’s passing on February 15, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Elva, Nual, Charles, Carl, Bob, and Bill Jones; and three sisters, Velva Viglini, Cledith Nichols, and Ruby Frankeberger. Florene is survived by a sister, Donna Jean Todd, of Falcon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Sheila Buecher, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Marilyn Stewart, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; a special person in Florene’s life, Travis Dykstra; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in the Competition community, and graduated from Competition High School. For a few years she taught school before marrying Vernon and moving to Kansas City, Missouri. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband, Florene also worked as a bookkeeper in Kansas City, Missouri, and then for Herrman Lumber Company in Lebanon for several years. In 1971, Florene and Vernon retired and moved back to the Competition area, and then made their home in Lebanon for the last few years. Florene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and had attended the Gardner Church, Second Free Will Baptist Church and Fairview United Methodist Church throughout the years. In her spare time she enjoyed square dancing and playing cards. She and Vernon had a cabin on Truman Lake where they greatly enjoyed fishing. Florene was a loving sister and aunt, and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the McBride Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
