Floyd Henderson's Obituary
Floyd Earl Henderson, son of Perry Brian and Ethel Maxwell Henderson, was born March 7, 1927, near Purcell, in Jasper County, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, November 17, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, eight months, and ten days. On October 18, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carol J. Kvistad, and they shared the last fifty-three years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Michael Climer; two brothers, Jack and Jim Henderson; and two sisters, Helen Minkler, and Wanda Robinson. Floyd is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; three sons, Ron Storberg, of Belmont, North Carolina, Randy Storberg, and his wife, Vicki, of Richland, Missouri, and Floyd D. Henderson, and his wife, Janet, of Tacoma, Washington; three daughters, Roxie Barber, and her husband, Bruce, Ruby Climer, and her husband, Gene, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Judy Koopman, and Rick Barren, of Rockland, Wisconsin; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a brother, Emmitt Henderson, and his wife, Kay, of the State of Texas; a sister, Leona Robinson, of the State of Texas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Purcell community, and then entered the military at the age of seventeen. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army in a career that spanned over twenty years. During his years in the Army, he served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. After being honorably discharged in 1970, he returned to Missouri and worked as a civil service employee in laundry and clothing issuing services at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, for several years. Floyd had attended the Cowboy Church near Branson and enjoyed services there. He liked to go camping and particularly enjoyed spending time in the Branson area. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Floyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will remember him as a devoted family man, a dedicated military soldier, and a good friend. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 21, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mt. Rose Memorial Park Veterans' Park.
