Floyd Shafer's Obituary
Floyd Donald Shafer, son of Kenneth Lee and Marjorie C. (Yant) Shafer, was born March 21, 1924, in Oakland, California. He departed this life Monday, November 5, 2007, in Hartville Care Center, in Hartville, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, seven months, and fourteen days. On December 12, 1970 he was united in marriage to Lois Mae Krinkey and together they spent the last thirty-seven years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Edna Reams. Floyd is survived by his wife, Lois, of the home; two sons, Kenneth Shafer, of Columbus, Wisconsin, and Gordon Shafer, and his wife, Persis, of Hartville, Missouri; a step-daughter, Carol Shultz, of Madison, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren, Andrew and John Shultz, Tammy Nelson, Joellen, Ashlie, Jordanlea, Jarod, Johnathan, and Jonah Shafer; two brothers, Leonard Shafer, of Veneta, Oregon, and Bill Shafer, of Eugene, Oregon; two sisters, Mildred Keeler, of Springfield, Oregon, and Lucille Harris, of Drain, Oregon; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born in California and moved to Oregon with his family at the age of four, then when he was eighteen he traveled with the carnival for many years. He then settled in Illinois for a few years before moving to Madison, Wisconsin in 1970, where he worked in a metal shop and for the City of Stoughton. Then in June of 2006 he moved to Aurora until moving to Hartville thirty days ago. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and fixing things. Floyd was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2007, in the Hartville Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Pockwaukee, WI.
