Frances Ellen DeRossett (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Frances Ellen Derossett, age 85, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, afternoon at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born on June 27, 1926 in Morrisville, Missouri the daughter of George L. Pickett and Doretha Elizabeth (Smith) Pickett.
She was raised in the Morrisville area, attending the Morrisville schools and graduated from the Bolivar High School in Bolivar, Missouri.
Frances married Richard Lee Derossett in 1947 in Springfield, Missouri, to this union two children were born, Rick and Vicki.
In 1964 she went back to school to get her Nursing Degree, after graduation she worked on the orthopedic floor at Burge Hospital and later she became the office nurse for Dr. Sam Whittmer. She always said that she couldn’t have worked for a better doctor and had the most wonderful job.
She loved traveling with her husband Richard. Some of the countries they visited were France, Germany, Austria, and Canada. The summer of 1997 her and her husband spent three months in Alaska fishing.
Frances was a very big Lady Bears fan and she enjoyed her flowers and landscaping. She was a faithful attendee of the Battlefield Baptist Church in Battlefield, Missouri.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Richard, after 51 years of marriage, her parents, one brother Bob Pickett, and two sisters, Georgie Winfrey and Genevive Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Burk and her husband Gerald of Spokane, Missouri, a son, Rick Derossett and his wife Elaine of Ballwin, Missouri, five grandchildren, Jeff Alexander and his wife Shelley of Springfield, Missouri, Tyler Alexander of Springfield, Missouri, Josh Derossett of Ballwin, Missouri, Jessica Derossett of Ballwin, Missouri, Lauren Derossett of Ballwin, Missouri and two great granddaughters, Maddie Alexander of Springfield, Missouri, and Emma Alexander, of Pleasant Hope, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with the Rev. Ray Smith officiating. Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace” and Rock of Ages”. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri. No visitation will be held. Pallbearers will be Rick Derossett, Gerald Burk, Jeff Alexander, Tyler Alexander, Josh Derossett, and Don Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Stults and Jerry Stults.
