Frances Gilpin (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Wilma Jo Caudle, daughter of Oliver E. and Ida M. Wilson Cromer, was born August 26, 1926, in Stoutland, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, June 17, 2016, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, nine months, and twenty-one days.
On September 22, 1949, she was united in marriage to Darrell E. Caudle, and they shared thirty-two years before his passing on February 4, 1982.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Deborah K. Brook, and Peggy Morris; a granddaughter, Lorissa Kay; two brothers, William “Bill” and Leslie Oliver Cromer; and twin sisters, Evadine and Olivine Cromer.
Wilma is survived by three daughters, Susan Brooks, of Paola, Kansas, Bonnie Osborn, and her husband, Danny, and Connie Miller, all of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Pete Cromer, and his wife, Terri, and Larry Caudle, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Loraine Eilenstine, and Gwen Blackburn, both of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Stoutland community. After she and Darrell were married, they lived in various places following Darrell’s work and Wilma was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Eventually, the family made their home in the Lebanon area, and Wilma began working as a cook at Donnelly Elementary School and then in the Lebanon High School. She later retired as a housekeeper at Wyota Inn Motel.
Wilma had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she was a wonderful seamstress and was very talented at making quilts, having won many blue ribbons at various fairs and contests. She liked working in her garden, growing beautiful flowers, feeding the hummingbirds, and going to yard sales. She was a fun loving person with a lot of spunk, and was steadfast in her convictions. Her family was very dear to her and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren.
Wilma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty-nine years.
Services for Frances Gilpin will be held Monday June 20th at 1:00 p.m. in New Horizons Seventh Day Adventist Church, Republic, Missouri. Visitation will be noon until time of service Monday in the Church. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri.
