He was born and raised in the Stoutland community and graduated from Stoutland High School. He then entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy for twenty years. He was involved in World War II, and was stationed in various places across the world including seven years in Norfolk, Virginia. He was also stationed in Panama, and spent his last two years in the Navy in Cuba. In 1961, he and Irene retired to the Stoutland area and made their home. Francis worked for Rich Line Boats and Lowe Boats for several years.
Francis was an active member of the United Church of God, formerly the World Wide Church of God, and served as a local Elder for forty years.
In his spare time he enjoyed growing a large garden each year and shared the produce with others. He was always helping others and was a very generous man. He possessed a delightful sense of humor and never complained. His family was very dear to him and he especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Francis was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated Navy soldier, and a compassionate Christian man.
Memorial donations to Osage Beach Hospice may be left at the funeral home.
