Frank Dean Dampier (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Frank Dean Dampier was born on April 16, 1935, to James and Edna Dampier at home in Ira, Missouri. He departed this earthly life on July 5, 2026. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Sue and one son Justin. He is survived by his children Edna, Steve, and Becky, and one sister Bonnie.Frank, along with his parents and siblings: Lee, Mary, Drue, John, Iva, Jimmy, and Bonnie all lived on a farm along the Niangua River for Frank’s whole childhood until he left to marry. He loved to coon hunt and trap and always had a hunting dog, especially redbone coonhounds. Frank dearly loved music and played guitar. If he could hear a song and get the tune in his head, he could pick it out, note for note and in the same key he had originally heard the song. His mom taught him to play guitar when he was 10 and was confined to the bed with mumps. As he said, “it gave him something to do!” Frank loved bluegrass and old-time country music.Frank was a Christian man and in his later years talked a lot about God at his living facility and touched many lives.Frank met Sue Hall who would later become his wife in Long Lane, Missouri. They met as a home music party where Frank was playing guitar and Sue was jig dancing! They married and to this union came: Edna Hale (Rick), Justin Dampier, Steve Dampier (Tracy), and Becky Dampier. Later came his five grandchildren, Jessica Dampier Shook (Josh), Sarah Dampier Southard (Ryan), Joe Dampier, Katy Dampier, and Josh Dampier (Haddi). Later, great grandchildren: Colton, Ali, Max, Hudson, Harrison, Hayes, and Ruby.The Dampier family raise, train, and show Missouri Fox Trotter horses. Frank showed and taught his children how to ride and show. He was very proud of all of their accomplishments. Frank and Sue were farmers and raised cattle, horses, and had many chickens. Together they ran both dairy and beef operations. They had farms in Long Lane and then later Urbana.We were all blessed by his love and have faith in Jesus, promised that we will all be together again in paradise…’til we meet again!Memorial contributions may be made to Bower Chapel Cemetery.Funeral services is scheduled for 2 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, with Bill Rose officiating. Visitation will be held prior, beginning at 1 pm. Frank will be laid to rest at Bower Cemetery in Urbana, Missouri.
