Fred Jaynes' Obituary
Fred Jaynes, son of Andrew Jackson and Mary Alpha Holland Jaynes, was born February 11, 1925, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, August 5, 2008, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, five months, and twenty-four days. On September 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Tilda Evelyn Evans, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn, on January 19, 2008; and two brothers. Fred is survived by a daughter, Anita Bennett, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Stephen F. Jaynes, and his wife, Linda, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jeff L. Jaynes, of Marshfield, Missouri; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Sue Roberson, and her husband, Horace, of Dennison, Texas, and Sharon Cromer, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army Air Corps from August 6, 1943 until being honorably discharged on November 28, 1945. During World War II, he was part of the North Atlantic Wing and Air Transport Command and earned the rank of Corporal. He returned to the Lebanon area where he and Evelyn were soon married. They made their home in the Lebanon community and lovingly raised their family. Throughout the years, Fred worked in the vending service business. Fred made his profession of faith in Christ shortly after his wife’s passing, and had attended the Second Baptist Church in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, particularly at his favorite spot on the river. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with them. Fred was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be at 2:00 pm Friday August 8, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Funeral Home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association and donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
