Freda Shears (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Freda Jamesine Shears, daughter of James William and Elsie T. McDaniel Sutton, was born January 22, 1929, in Springfield, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, October 22, 2014, in Richland Care Center, in Richland, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, and nine months.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James D. Sutton, Sr., and Kenneth E. Sutton; and a sister, Carolyn Sue Sutton.
Freda is survived by a son, James E. Sutton, and his wife, Linda, of Richland, Missouri; a brother, William D. Sutton, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Lebanon, Missouri, as well as in Oklahoma and Arizona. She had worked for the Rice Stix Factory and at the Fort Leonard Wood Exchange early in her life. She then made her home in the Freeport, Illinois area for twenty-five years, and worked for Burgess Battery Factory for several years. She also was a devoted homemaker and mother. She had worked as a waitress and was a bartender for the American Legion Hall. In 1990, she moved to the Brighton and Pleasant Hope, Missouri area, and then made her home in the Lebanon and Richland area in 2012.
In her spare time she enjoyed being outdoors where her favorite activities were fishing, camping and watching car races. She also liked to play bingo and dance. Her family was very important to her and she loved going to family gatherings.
Freda was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
A memorial has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
