G. Luciel Cantrell's Obituary
Luciel Cantrell, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, departed this earthly life Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Webco Manor in Marshfield, Missouri, at the wise age of ninety-four years, eight months and 26 days.
She was born Georgie Luciel Bennett on March 20, 1921, in Marshfield, Missouri, to Thomas and Ann (Carpenter) Bennett. She grew up on Nation School Road and spent all of her years in Webster County. Luciel was a Christian woman and attended various Church of Christ through the years. In December of 1934, she was united in marriage to Monroe Cantrell, and to this union five children were born. They were wed for more than fifty-two happy years before his passing in May of 1986. Luciel was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker, and put many years of hard work into the family farm. For a time, she was Club Leader for Junior Farmers Association (JFA). She loved to garden in the summer and truly enjoyed quilting and sewing in her spare time. For several years she owned and operated “Luciel’s Miscellaneous,” on the north side of the square. For a time she also worked for an insurance company on a team that did clean-up work after fires, floods and other disasters. Luciel cleaned private homes as well. In addition to her parents, Luciel was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe Cantrell; a son, Noel Cantrell, who passed away in March of 2014; a grandson, Monroe Kevin Cook; a great-grandson, Christopher Best; four sisters, Anita Cantrell, Ileen Withrow, Foey Bennett, and Diana McGinnis; a brother, Darrell Bennett; and two infant siblings, Wilber and Joetta Bennett. Luciel leaves behind two daughters, Patsy Hicks of Seymour, and Rosalee and Howard King, of Joplin, Missouri; two sons, Steve and Linda Cantrell, and Philip and Carla Cantrell, all of Seymour, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren, Sammy and Carol Cook, Eric and Martha Cook, Wendell and Patricia Cook, Carl and Kathy Cook, Pheobe Best, Deborah and Lonnie Allen, Lara and Bill Davis, Louise Bigley, Vance Cantrell, Suzanne Cantrell, Dennis Cantrell, Charlotte and Jason Leher, Mike and Connie Costello, Scott Cantrell, Ginger and John Onyeka, and Valerie and Zach Levan; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and many, many great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Hoerning of Marshfield, Missouri; four brothers, Ira Bennett, and Raymond and Shirley Bennett, all of Marshfield; Roy and Geneva Bennett of Seymour, and Jerry Bennett of Tittsburg, Missouri; too many nieces and nephews to name; and many, many more extended family, dear friends and neighbors who all treasure her memories. Georgie Luciel Bennett was a devoted and loving wife and mother, a fun and adoring grandma and great-grandma, and a caring and loyal sister and friend. Her ninety-four years set an example for generations to live and love by. She will be sadly missed by family and friends, but the many happy memories she made through the years will be cherished by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
