Gareld Lerdahl (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Gareld LeRoy Lerdahl, son of Orin L. and Olive V. Bartholomew Lerdahl, was born February 27, 1941, in Wauzeka, Wisconsin. He departed this life Saturday, August 6, 2016, in the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of seventy-five years, five months, and eleven days.
On March 17, 1961, he was united in marriage to Francis Catherine Allen, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bernard Lerdahl.
“Jerry”, as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by his wife, Catherine, of the home; a daughter, Connie Vogt, and her husband, Lester, of St. Robert, Missouri; two sons, Glen Lerdahl, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Dareld Lerdahl, of Lebanon, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four brothers, Orlin Lerdahl, and his wife, Irene, of Wautoma, Wisconsin, George Lerdahl, and his wife, Carol, of Mission, Texas, Richard Lerdahl, and his wife, Vickie, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Eugene Lerdahl, and his wife, Lorri Lynn, of Kenosha, Wisconsin; two sisters, Evelyn Simar, and her husband, Roger, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Cindy Wedlund, and her husband, Barry, of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised on a dairy farm in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and graduated from high school there. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1958 until 1961. While in the Army he attended college. After being honorably discharged from the military, he and Catherine were married and they made their home in St. Charles, Missouri for twenty-five years. The family then lived in St. Robert, Missouri for about fifteen years, before moving to Lebanon for the last fifteen years. Jerry was a gifted carpenter and electrician and worked as an independent electrician for many years.
Jerry was a member of South Five Church of Christ in Lebanon for the last fifteen years.
In his spare time he enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets, and liked riding his golf cart through the woods. He had a collection of guns and enjoyed going to the coffee shop each morning. He loved playing the button accordion for his children and grandchildren, and liked listening to Jim Biggs play music. He was always busy building something and enjoyed doing carpentry projects. He also liked sitting on the porch and listening to the rain. His family was very important to him and he greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his seventy-five years.
