Garna Oleta Shaver's Obituary
Garna Oleta Henslee Shaver, daughter of Charles and Ellie (Tate) Henslee, was born May 1, 1919, in the Hartville area. She departed this life Monday, March 12, 2007, in her home, near Hartville, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, ten months, and twelve days. On February 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Levi Shaver and together spent the last sixty-one years. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Virgil, Manie, Dwight, and Berlin Henslee; two sister, Gladys Posateri, and Verda Curtis. Garna is survived by her husband, Levi, of the home; two sons, Garry Shaver, and his wife, Sharon, of Grovespring, Missouri, their children, Stanley Shaver, and his wife, Diana, and their son, Nickolas, Shawna Northrop, and her husband, Jeremy, and their children, Jordan and Kaylee, and Sasha Shaver; Bruce Shaver, and his wife, Delynn, of Grovespring, Missouri, their children, Kristy Jordan, and her husband, Alan, and their children, Shyla and Zoey, Kelby Shaver, and his wife, Natasha, and Kara Williamson, and her husband, Clint; a brother-in-law, Owen Curtis, of Hartville, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Mae Henlsee, of Hartville, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Hartville community, and attended Hartville High School. Then she and Gladys, her sister, moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she worked for Douglas Aircraft Plant. She later moved to Illinois and worked for John Deere until Levi was discharged from the service. After they married they moved to the Dawson area, near Mountain Grove, Missouri, and lived there for six years. In 1948 their first son, Garry, was born. In 1952 they moved to the farm in the Loring community, near Grovespring, where Bruce was born. Garna was baptized into Christ in 1970 and attended the Church of Christ at Shaddy Chapel. In her earlier years she was a member of a church club and was very active in all the church activities. She liked helping milk and putting up hay, and always had a good garden for the family, while Levi worked out. In her spare time she enjoyed going to music parties, listening to Levi play music, crocheting and loved making beautiful quilts. In 1993 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she had much trouble and pain, but always did her best to go on with her family life. Levi took care of her with help from family and many friends. Garna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri. Burial will be in the Shaddy Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
