Gary Edward Bateman (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Gary Edward Bateman, son of Lawrence T. and Esther Marie Shaw Bateman, was born January 29, 1952, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, February 11, 2017, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years and ten days.
On July 6, 1996, he was united in marriage to Arlene Marie Payne, and they shared the last twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and George Bateman; and four sisters, Helen Hicks, Judy Kennedy, Virginia Maske, and Ella Mae Mason.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Arlene, of the home; two daughters, Teresa Clark, and her husband, Tony, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Tammie Thom, and her husband, Brian, of Rolla, Missouri; four grandchildren, Hannah, Makala, Phenix, and Carsyn; a brother, Ted Bateman, and his wife, Cheryl, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Dorothy Howe, of Mount Vernon, Missouri, and Doris Kehoe, and her husband, Ron, of Bullhead City, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Grovespring community, and graduated from Hartville High School. He had made his home in the Lebanon area for several years, and had worked for Tracker Marine for twenty-nine years. After he and Arlene were married, they made their home near Lebanon.
Gary was an active member of the Lebanon Family Church in Lebanon for several years. Gary’s life focused on sharing his faith. This passion transmitted into every aspect of his life, both at work and wherever he was in the company of others. He, no doubt, heard the words, “Well done thy good and faithful servant” when he stepped into eternity and he made plain the roadmap of salvation to anyone who sought the way to follow him to the heavenly gates.
He had been a volunteer Missouri Conservation Agent for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, and kayaking. He also liked taking a good nap. He possessed strong values and his faith, family, and work were always central in his life. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure all the good times they had through the years.
Memorial donations to Mt. Zion (Cuba) Cemetery may be left at the funeral home.
