Gary Tuman's Obituary
Gary Lee Tuman, son of Glenn Leroy and Florence Irene Sherk Tuman, was born Monday, April 6, 1936, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He departed this life Sunday, April 19, 2009, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years and thirteen days. On January 20, 1968, Gary was united in marriage to Marie Maxine Nielsen; and together they shared thirty-seven years until her passing on July 21, 2005. Gary was also preceded in death by his parents. Gary is survived by a son, Michael E. Tuman and his wife, Lisa, of Hesperia, California; three grandchildren, Cory Tuman, Zachary Tuman and Brandy Tuman, all of Hesperia, California; a sister, Sonja Hunt and her husband, Richard, of Camdenton, Missouri; two nieces, Theresa Lewis and her husband, Ken, and Dawn McGuire, all of Camdenton, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Gary spent his younger years in Iowa and graduated from Janesville High School. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country from 1954 to 1958. After being honorably discharged, Gary spent time living in Texas before moving to Waterloo, Iowa, in 1966. There he met and married Marie and went to work for the United States Postal Service. They later moved to Whittier, California, in 1976 and would remain there until moving to Camdenton in 1991 following Gary’s retirement from the Postal Service. In his earlier years Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will treasure the wonderful memories he has created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday April 23, 2009 at the Allee- Holman-Howe Funeral home in Camdenton. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 6:00pm until time of service under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home Camdenton, Missouri.
