Gay Ameritta Dorrance (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Gay Ameritta Dorrance passed away December 24, 2022 in her home in Buffalo, Missouri. At the time of her passing, she was 79 years, 11 months and 23 days. Gay was born on New Year’s Day in 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Edward Duett and Florence Lilly Terry.
On July 7, 1971, she was united in marriage to Ralph Ellsworth Dorrance, and to this union four daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward, on June 24, 2012; her brothers, Dean, Ed, Lawrence and Bob; and two sisters, Viola and Jeannie.
Gay is survived by four daughters, Shelly Powell and Misty Gentry, both of Tunas, Missouri, Janie Gentry of Fair Grove, Missouri and Willie Hill of Lebanon, Missouri; her sons, Jeffery Dorrance of Lebanon, Missouri and Jerry Dorrance of Stotts City, Missouri; a sister, Rosie Alexander of Independence, Missouri; a brother, Harry Duett of Tunas, Missouri; 19 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
She was raised in Independence, Missouri and after getting married to Ralph, they made their home in Southwest Missouri, following her husband in his line of work.
Gay was an active member of River of Life Church in Buffalo, Missouri. She enjoyed serving and worshiping God and loved her friends she made through her church in Buffalo.
In her spare time, you could find Gay in her garden, working with her flowers and plants. She also enjoyed going to Sonic Drive-In and getting her favorite soft drink.
Ultimately, Gay was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family. She loved them very much and time spent with family was very valuable. She found peace with Jesus and her family.
Funeral services for Gay Dorrance will be Thursday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Rev. Gabriel Martin officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, December. 28 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Flatwoods Cemetery.
A memorial to the American Cancer Society has been established and donations may be made through the funeral home.
