Gayle Winkler's Obituary
Gayle Talou Winkler, daughter of George A. and Mary Minnie Smith Winkler, was born September 12, 1946, in Burke, South Dakota. She departed this life Sunday, July 15, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty years, ten months, and three days. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Floyd, Marvin, Gary, Ralph, and Dean Dewayne Winkler. Gayle is survived by two brothers, Wesley Winkler, of Falcon, Missouri, and Neil Winkler, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Gloria Perrin, of Falcon, Missouri, and Patricia Fenwick, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in South Dakota, and then lived in Ventura, California for several years. She later moved to Falcon, Missouri, before making her home in Brookline Station, Missouri and then in Springfield. For the last few years, she had lived in Maranantha Village in Springfield. Although she was a Downs Syndrome child, she was extremely loving and especially enjoyed giving hugs to everyone she met. Her favorite activity was to cut things out of magazines and catalogs. Gayle was a sweet and loving young lady, and will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the McBride Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Contributions to Seasons Hospice or Laclede Developmental Training Center may be made through the funeral home.
