Geleta F. Adams (Hartville)'s Obituary
Geleta Fay (Adamson Delcour) Adams was born March 19th, 1929 in Mansfield Missouri. She passed away September 28th, 2017 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 88. She was a strong believer of the Baptist faith and looked forward to resting in the arms of her Maker.
When Geleta was two weeks old her family took a train to Idaho to work the crops. They later returned to Missouri where she spent her childhood and early adult years. She attended Wolf Creek School until the 8th grade when she decided to stay home and help with the farm. She married Francis Delcour in 1947. To this union, two sons were born.
Geleta worked at the H.D. Lee Company in Hartville while Francis worked for the REA. They later owned and operated the Hartville Package Store.
Geleta later managed a women's clothing store in Boise, Idaho for her good friends, Quentin and Helen Newton. When the Newtons opened another store in Seattle, Washington , she relocated there to operate that business.
Geleta came back to Missouri in the early 1980's and lived in Ava, Hartville, Nixa and Springfield.
Even after going nearly blind due to Macular Degeneration she continued to maintain her happy disposition, and never let life's challenges take away her joy. She moved to Springfield Rehab and Healthcare in 2013, where she would spend her remaining years.
During her life, Geleta loved to fish, loved to bowl and took great joy in spending time with her family. She loved being with her granddaughters and introducing them to the finer points of catching fish. Now we know she is catching lunkers everyday and rolling a 300 game whenever she wants. She was a life long fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Both her sons were baseball players and she never missed a game.
Geleta was preceded in death by her parents W. H. and Leola Adamson, two sisters, Pauline Long and Shirley Vanderpool, one brother Ronall Adamson, and the father of her sons, Francis Delcour.
She is survived by her sons Jerry and wife Janet Delcour of Hurley, Missouri and Dan and wife Connie Delcour of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by her granddaughters Misty Zavala of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marianne Taylor of Springfield, Missouri, and Jerica Delcour of Hurley, Missouri, three grandsons Brad Zavala, Tommy Delcour, and Carl Delcour. She is survived by two brothers, Lowell and Sheila Adamson of Jefferson City, Missouri and Rex and Karen Adamson of Joplin, Missouri.
