Geneva M Johnson (Seymour)'s Obituary
Geneva May Johnson, daughter of Thomas L and Lattie Vern Becker Matney, was born June 6, 1932, near Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in her daughter's home near Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 22 days.
On March 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to Willard Dale Johnson until his death in 2003. To this union two daughters and three sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Cleveland Matney; and one sister, Lillie Matney.
Geneva is survived by five sisters: Edith Porter, Birdie Cummins, Ida Deckard, Opal Helms, and Clara Long; one brother, Ival Matney; three sons, Willard "Billy Ray" Johnson and his wife Marcella; Danny Johnson and his wife Sandra; and Gregory Johnson and his wife Delilah, all of Seymour, Missouri; two daughters, Kathy McFarland of Seymour, Missouri, and Eva Howard and her husband Danny of Marshfield, Missouri; nine Grandchildren, Dustin Johnson, Jason McFarland, Eric McFarland, Danny Joe Howard, Dana Howard, Deva Howard, Chad Johnson, Austin Johnson, and Heath Johnson; 15 great-grandchildren and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She lived all of her life in the Seymour area, including the family farm where she and Willard lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, she was a housewife, helped to operate their dairy farm, and helped to operate Johnson's Skating Rink near Seymour, from 1972 until 1985.
She had accepted Christ as her personal Savior and attended Antioch Baptist church. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, quilting, and cooking.
Geneva loved children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, caring neighbor and friend.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice of LEBANON and left at the funeral home.
