Geneva Faye Knapp (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Geneva Faye Knapp, daughter of Bland and Mamie Williams Ward, was born April 13, 1939, near Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, May 16, 2016, in Missouri Delta Medical Center, in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, one month, and three days.
On June 1, 1955, she was united in marriage to Donivan Knapp, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donivan, on April 26, 1995; a daughter, Donna Sherman; a brother, Lester Ward; and a sister, Dottie Barker.
Geneva is survived by two daughters, Sharon Counts, and her husband, Kenneth,, of Sikeston, Missouri, and Pamela Lewis, and her husband, Kevin, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Larry Don Knapp, of Mount Vernon, Missouri, and Donivan Ruben Knapp, and his wife, Pamela K., of Lebanon, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Verbal Ward, and his wife, Irene, and Jackie Ward, and his wife, Carolyn, all of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Norma Rogers, Mary Rogers, and Virginia DeVore, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Wright County, Missouri. After she and Donivan were married, they made their home in various locations while Donivan was serving in the military. They lived in Germany, Alaska, and several places stateside. Eventually, they made their home on their dairy farm near Sleeper, Missouri. Through the years, Geneva was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also helped in the operation of their farm and cut wood with Donivan. She had made her home in Sikeston, Missouri for the last few months.
Geneva professed her faith in Christ early in her life, and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon. She had a deep abiding faith in God and was always willing to help others.
She was a very friendly lady who never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Geneva was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her seventy-seven years.
Memorial donations may be made to the Heritage Baptist Church, and left at the funeral home.
