Geneve Marlin (Seymour)'s Obituary
Geneve Marlin of Springfield, Missouri, passed away February 26, 2012 at The Manor at Elfindale, Springfield, Missouri. She was born September 21, 1930 in Elkhead, Missouri, the daughter of the late Delbert and Delorce (Nelson) Swearengin. She was united in marriage to A.J. Marlin on October 12, 195l in Seymour, Missouri. He preceded her in death March 2, 2007, after having been married for 56 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Missouri National Education Association, a member of the Missouri Retired Teachers’ Association and a long time member of the First Baptist Church at Seymour and later University Heights Baptist Church in Springfield. She grew up on a farm and attended Douglas County Schools and was a graduate of Ava High School, Missouri State University, and received a Masters in Education from Drury University. She was a retired elementary school teacher after having taught 35 years: 3 years in Douglas County Schools, 19 years at Seymour Elementary Public School, and the last 13 years in the Springfield Public School System. Kindergarten was her favorite grade.
A loving wife, aunt, teacher, neighbor and friend, Geneve Swearengin Marlin will live on in our hearts. We will cherish the lessons learned, and the love given by this exceptional woman. A woman of God, and our friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and take comfort knowing we will meet again.
