George "Dink" E. Flanary (Lebanon)'s Obituary
GEORGE EUGENE FLANARY
George Eugene “Dink” Flanary, son of Tom and Ona Busick Flanary, was born March 9, 1930, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, April 30, 2017, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, one month, and twenty-one days.
On April 5, 1976, he was united in marriage to Brenda Kay Groff, and they shared the last forty-one years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Ona May Sutton.
“Dink”, as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home; two sons, Brian Flanary, and his wife, Toni, of Eldridge, Missouri, and Steven Flanary, of Lebanon, Missouri; a step-daughter, Michelle Hawkins, and her husband, Jesse, of Lebanon, Missouri; a step-son, Chuck Morgan, and his wife, Bethany, of Pampa, Texas; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Flanary, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jack Flanary, and his wife, Edith, of Humansville, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Laclede County, Missouri, and made his home near Lebanon for most of his life. He entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Army from April 12, 1951, until being honorably discharged on March 30, 1953. Dink was a heavy equipment operator and had worked several places doing road construction through the years.
He was a member of the Lebanon Moose Lodge for fifteen years. He was a great outdoorsman, and liked hunting, fishing and trapping. He also was adept at carpentry and had built a log cabin by hand. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
