George E. Drinkall (Lebanon)'s Obituary
George Elwin Drinkall, son of Elwin Ray and Marle Estelle King Drinkall, was born August 11, 1932, in Spring Valley, Minnesota. He departed this life Thursday, May 2, 2019, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, eight months, and twenty days.
On December 19, 1959, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Heard, and to this union seven children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lyle Drinkall; and two sisters, Irene Franke, and Mildred Beier.
George is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Dorothy, of the home; seven children, Douglass Drinkall, and his wife, Rene’, of Niangua, Missouri, Debbie Phillips, and her husband, Marvin, of Long Lane, Missouri, Butch Drinkall, of Lebanon, Missouri, Gilbert Drinkall, of Cassville, Missouri, Gail Drinkall, Greg Drinkall, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Danny Drinkall, and his wife, Priscilla, of Nixa, Missouri; nine grandchildren, John, Joshua, Kendra, Ben, Shyann, Daniel, Zachary, Tanya, and Jessi; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Lee, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Spring Valley, Minnesota, and then joined the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force for a total of twenty-one years. He was an airplane mechanic and had worked on the B-58, B-47, and C-5A aircrafts. During his military career, he had been stationed abroad and at several locations in the states. After retiring, he and the family moved to Lebanon, Missouri.
George made his profession of faith and was baptized into the First Baptist Church of Lebanon, where he was very actively involved.
He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion, Post # 43, and Vietnam Veterans Association. He was a NASCAR fan and particularly liked Kyle Busch. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that he will be fondly remembered as a devoted family man, a dedicated soldier, and a good friend to many.
A memorial has been established and may be left at the funeral home.
