George Good,'s Obituary
George Aaron Good, Sr., son of Elmer Aaron and Jessie Leoma (Anderson) Good was born May 12, 1925 in the Teagues Community in Webster County, Missouri. He departed this life, Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri at the age of eighty-five years, nine months and five days.
On October 14, 1946, George was united in marriage to Betty Peters and to this union a daughter and two sons were born. They spent almost sixty-three years together before Betty’s passing on March 13, 2009.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, George A. “Pete” Good; a grandson, Kevin Dale Cantrell; four brothers, Bobby, Jimmy, Jerry and Tom Good; and three sisters, Leona Good, Hiawanda Barnhouse, and Margaret Jones. George is survived by a daughter, Diane Cantrell and companion, Mark Farrell of Fordland, Missouri ; a son, David Good and his wife, Sue, of Sweet Springs, Missouri; five grandchildren, Darin Cantrell and his wife, Bridgett, Lori Strong, Cindy Franks and her husband, Robert, Amanda Good, and John Good; eight great-grandchildren, Melonie, Erica, Heather, Ashley, Kaleb, Kleo, Emileigh, and Abby; three great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Chaz, and Amerianna; one sister, Daisy Millsap and her husband, Gerald, of Lebanon, Missouri; one brother, Jack Good and his wife, Gracie, of Point Blank, Texas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
George grew up in the Seymour area of Webster County, Missouri and lived in Houston, Texas for ten years where he drove a delivery truck for Imperial (Uncle Bens) Rice Company. After moving back to Seymour, he was a self-employed truck driver, hauling and delivering grain. In the last working years of his life he owned and operated Good’s Tire in Wheel in Seymour. In his younger years he had attended the Old Liberty Freewill Baptist Church north of Seymour.
In his spare time he loved to take care of his garden and lawn and he enjoyed doing mechanic work for family and friends. He cherished the time that he could spend with his family and shared a special relationship with his grandson, Darin.
George was a loving husband, dad, grandad, great-grandad, great-great-grandad, brother and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories he created for all those who knew and loved him.
Services are 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 22,2011 in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour and burial with full military honors will be in Liberty Cemetery, n. of Seymour. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m., Monday in Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Seymour.
