George Rasmussen's Obituary
George Charles Rasmussen, son of Henry and Alvira (Patterson) was born April 22, 1925 in Iowa. He departed this life Thursday, May 3l, 2007 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, and eleven days. His father, mother, and brother preceded him in death. George is survived by his loving wife, Glena of sixty-two years, his daughters of Mansfield, Missouri, Kris Krider and her husband, Charley and youngest daughter, Kelly Brazeal; three grandsons he loved very much, Scott Smith and his wife Melissa of Logan Rogersville, Missouri, Tim Brazeal a student at Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri, and Tom Brazeal a student at Missouri State University, West Plains, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Dalton, Conner, and Grace; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives, friends, and neighbors. George was as high school graduate of Rhule Hartman High School. He joined the United States Navy immediately after high school, serving in the South Pacific War during World War II. George loved farming and was a dairy farmer for several years. He became rural route three postal carrier for Mansfield postal service and was known as the “ridge runner.” When retiring from the postal service, George continued beef farming until his death. George had a strong faith in the Lord and was a member and elder of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Mansfield. He believed in the importance of family. They were his joy but spending time with his loving wife, Glena, was a top priority. George, Pa Pa to the boys, enjoyed and taught his grandsons about hunting and fishing. If a turkey or deer cam home, Pa Pa was out at the truck talking about its nice features with the boys. He was always out on the farm fixing fence, checking cows, and enjoying the farm. He loved going to the lake and taking trips with his family while playing a little golf with his grandsons. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He always enjoyed a good or funny story over a cup of coffee. We will cherish our wonderful memories and celebrate his life as we pass the stories and tales to the generations over the years. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Hensley Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 2 - 4:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
