George J. Zvirgzdins, age 80, asleep in Jesus, Sunday, March 9th, 2025.
George was born in Riga, Latvia. He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Velva Zvirgzdins, his parents and his brother Andris Zvirgzdins.
George is survived by his children John (Terri) Zvirgzdins, Kristin (Bart) Wills and Jay (Jayme) Zvirgzdins; his grandchildren Jamie, Sidney and Samantha Zvirgzdins; Keller and Kai Wills, and Anna, Evelyn, Juris, Janis, Matthew and Samuel Zvirgzdins; his sister Ilze (Joe) Sella. Dear uncle, great-uncle, cousin and friend to many.
George came to America as a refugee, sponsored by a Lutheran Church in 1950. His story is miraculous.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2025 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Urbana. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in the Bowers Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Terry Gentry, Jr. officiating. Services are under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Urbana
