Georgia Taylor (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Georgia Crawford Taylor, age 96 of Bolivar, passed away at 8:55 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2011 in the Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar. She was born July 16, 1914 to Nelson Pickel and Minnie Jane (Crawford) Pickel northeast of Fair Play, MO on the family farm. At the age of 5 she moved to Fair Play, MO with her parents and grandparents George and Hannah (Standley) Pickel. She started school at age 6 and attend all 12 years graduating from Fair Play High School in 1932. At age 14 she was saved in a revival meeting at the Baptist Church, joined the church, was baptized and was secretary & treasurer of Sunday School, also Church Clerk for several years. After Graduating, she worked for Fair Play Mercantile also the grocery store. On November 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to Perry Gail Taylor. To this union one daughter, Janice Sue was born. Georgia and Gail worked on a farm for several years before moving to Bolivar to work. They later moved to Springfield to work and Georgia moved her church membership to True Hope Missionary Baptist Church where it remained. She was preceded in death by her husband Perry Gail Taylor on November 27, 1995, her parents, Nelson and Minnie Pickel. Georgia is survived by her daughter Janice Sue Payne and husband Russel of Bolivar; also her three granddaughters, Amy Bruce and husband Mike, Angela Legan and husband Mark and Alicia Roberts and husband Lukas all of Bolivar. George is also survived by her 5 great granddaughters, Jessica, Claire and Mary Grace Bruce; Ann and Audrey Roberts. And her 3 great grandsons, Dillon and Drew Legan and Zachary Bruce all of Bolivar. Also two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Taylor of Stockton, MO; and Nora Bench of West Plains, MO. She enjoyed cooking and making quilts, and other handworks for her family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Mike Bruce and Elder Jackie Brakebill officiating. Due to weather conditions, her burial will be for the family at a later date. Casketbearers will be Mike Bruce, Mark Legan, Lukas Roberts, Drew Legan, Dillon Legan and Zach Bruce. Memorial contribution may be made to the True Hope Missionary Baptist Church
