Gerald Stowe (Lebanon)'s Obituary
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and respected citizen in the Lebanon community, Gerald E. (G.E.) Stowe passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was seventy-eight years, six months and twenty-three days of age.
Gerald was born November 1, 1947 near Lebanon, Missouri, in the community of Brush Creek, to Lloyd and Mattie Alma Gage Stowe. He grew up in Lebanon and was a graduate of Lebanon High School in the class of 1965. Following graduation, he was employed at H.D. Lee in Lebanon.
In 1966, Gerald was drafted into the United States Army and served from 1966 – 1968 in Vietnam. He was awarded two Purple Hearts during this time. He was a loyal and respected solider and loved his country.
On December 21, 1968, Gerald was united in marriage to the love of his life, Diane Sherrer. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in devotion, family and shared memories. This past year, they celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love for each other.
Gerald returned to H.D. Lee following his time in the service. He went on to work at several different companies in Lebanon before obtaining his insurance license and becoming an agent for Family Benefit Life Insurance Company. He was an agent for eighteen years, winning many awards throughout his career.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Mattie Stowe; a brother, Donald Stowe; his sisters-in-law, Peggy Stowe and Jane Stowe; and his mother and father-in-law, Eva and Dale Sherrer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Stowe of the home; two daughters, Carrie Warson and her husband Nathan and Bethany Jones and her husband Ethan, all of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Case Warson and his fiancé Aubrey, Ty Warson, Max Jones, Reed Jones, and Eva Grace Jones; two brothers, Ferrell Stowe and his wife Elaine and Jack Stowe, all of Lebanon, Missouri; his brothers and sisters in-law, Jake and Beth Hutsell of Success, Missouri and Larry and Teresa Sherrer of Lebanon, Missouri; his church family and many other relatives and dear friends.
Gerald professed his faith in Jesus Christ in 1973 and was a member of The Church of the Nazarene. In 2010 he joined Life Point Church in Lebanon and was an active, faithful member there. He loved his Heavenly Father and was a leader in the church. Faith was always at the center of his life and he always made God the head of his family.
He played and sang with the Ralph Withers and Harold Dowden Bluegrass 5 band and was also a member of The New Horizons. Music was very important to him and he loved singing praises to God.
He loved Case knives and collected hundreds of them. He enjoyed showing his collection to friends and relatives who would come to visit. He also collected Arrowheads he would find in the area. In addition to collecting, he was known to enjoy mushroom hunting and was a wonderful gardener, growing produce for his family and others to enjoy.
Most of all, Gerald enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, delighting in their daily lives and accomplishments.
As we remember Gerald, we celebrate a life well lived, marked by an enduring commitment to service and a profound love for God, his family and the community. He was a life that exemplified leadership and kindness, helping those who had a need.
Funeral services for Gerald Stowe will be Monday, June 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Life Point Church in Lebanon, Missouri. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Veteran's Park in Mount Rose Memorial Park with full military rites.
A memorial to "The Market", a food pantry at Life Point Church, has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
