Geraldine Anna Swedrek Baker's Obituary
Geraldine Anna Swedrek Baker, daughter of Edward F. and Lillian Smith Swedrek, was born February 20, 1936. She departed this life on Tuesday, October 17, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-years, seven months, and twenty-seven days. She was united in marriage to Robert P. Baker, on February 25, 1958, and to this union three children were born. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on October 6, 1996; one sister and two brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Dawn Gibson, and her husband, Randy, of Springfield, Missouri; two sons, Paul, and his wife, Kathy, of Plato, Missouri, and Robert, Jr., and his wife, Debbie, of Ozark, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jenny Hobbs, of Branson, Jaime Hobbs, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Alexandra Baker, of Ozark, Missouri; one great-grandchild, Kobi Hobbs, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Diane Bach, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Dottie Koscuk, of Tom Rivers, New Jersey; and special children, Sean Myers, of Plato, Missouri, and Shannon Chung, of Chicago, Illinois; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Geraldine was born and raised in South Rivers, New Jersey. She later moved to New York, where she met and married Robert. They returned to New Jersey and lovingly raised their family. In 1966 they moved to the Brownfield area where they made their home. Geraldine had made her profession of faith in Christ and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Plato. Her family was very important to her and she dearly loved being with and spoiling her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, watching movies, and spending time with her friends. Geraldine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006, in the First Baptist Church, Plato, Missouri. Burial will be in Pine Creek Baptist Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Paralyzed Veterans Association may be made through the funeral home.
