Geraldine Woods' Obituary
Lillian Geraldine Woods, daughter of Henry Altamont and Bessie Ware Bussard, was born February 4, 1914, near Brookfield, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, March 18, 2007, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-three years, one month, and four days. On December 22, 1934, she was united in marriage to Hubert Thomas Woods, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hubert, on September 17, 1993; an infant son; a grandson, Kevin; a great-grandson, Shane; and two brothers, Louis and Boyd Bussard. Geraldine is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn Kae Winter, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; a son, Thomas Melvin Woods, of Long Lane, Missouri; two grandchildren, Bill, and Michelle; five great-grandchildren, Sheena, Jeremy, Joshua, and Royal; a brother, John Bussard, of Eatonton, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Brookfield, Missouri area and graduated from Pershing High School. She then attended nursing school and earned her Registered Nursing Degree at the St. Joseph Methodist Hospital, in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1934. After she and Hubert were married, they made their home in St. Joseph for a few years, and then moved to Los Angeles, California. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Geraldine also worked as a Registered Nurse for several years. In 1974, she and Hubert retired and moved back to Missouri, and eventually made their home in the Lebanon area. Geraldine was a longtime active member of the Phillipsburg United Methodist Church. She belonged to the Lydia Quilting Club and enjoyed quilting and doing craft projects in her spare time. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Geraldine was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Gideon Bible Ministry may be made through the funeral home.
