Gery Nelson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Gery Lorraine Nelson, son of Charles “Tom” and Vergie Brown Nelson, was born November 5, 1944, near Eldridge, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, February 11, 2012, in his son’s home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-seven years, three months, and six days.
On June 14, 1967, he was united in marriage to Carol S. Morelan, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Carolyn Jeffries.
Gery is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Carol, of the home; two sons, Brad Nelson, and his wife, Mandie, and Kris Nelson, and his wife, Toya, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Shanna Hirt, of Tucson, Arizona; four grandchildren, Miranda and Austin Nelson, and Savannah and Anastayza Hirt; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He lived most of his life in the Grovespring, Missouri community, and graduated from Hartville High School. After he and Carol were married, they made their home in the Grovespring area, where they owned and operated a farm. Gery also worked as an independent truck driver for a number of years.
He enjoyed taking care of his equipment and spending time with his friends at the coffee shop. He was a very outspoken person who was always open and frank with his opinions. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Gery was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
